The Washington Redskins had a successful 1983 season, finishing with an 8-1 record in the strike-shortened season. They went on to win the NFC East division and advanced to the NFC Championship game, but lost to the Los Angeles Raiders.
Superstar running back John Riggins rushed for 1,347 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading the league in both categories. He was named the NFL MVP that season.
Quarterback Joe Theismann also had a productive year, throwing for 3,714 yards and 29 touchdowns.
The defense was led by Pro Bowl cornerback Darrell Green, who had five interceptions on the season.
Overall, the 1983 Redskins were a well-rounded team that had a dominant offense and solid defense. Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, they certainly made their mark on the league that season.
